Makplang is a highly experienced private legal practitioner and researcher with over 10 years of extensive experience and specialisation in litigation, Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), legal drafting and research, corporate law (including corporate governance and regulatory compliance), and property law. Currently, he serves as an Associate at S. D. Lafat & Co. (Integritas Chambers), where he leverages his expertise to provide high-quality legal services to clients.
In addition to his role at the law firm, Makplang has served and continues to serve as a company secretary, legal officer, and/or adviser to numerous companies, businesses, organisations, associations, and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs). As a company secretary, he ensures that all legal and regulatory requirements are met promptly and accurately, maintains proper corporate records and documents, advises directors on governance issues, duties, and liabilities, and coordinates board meetings and Annual General Meetings (AGMs) etc.
As a legal officer and adviser, he advocates for ADR due to its cost-effectiveness and time efficiency. He has participated in several high-profile negotiations and out-of-court settlements, utilising his expertise to resolve disputes swiftly and effectively.
Makplang is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered) and holds both a Bachelor's degree and a Master's degree in Law from the University of Jos, Nigeria.
